Hey peeps!
No word count this week. It’s been fluctuating as I tweak some things. I haven’t been rewriting; I am adjusting some things that will help the story in the long run, including the time of year when the story starts. It was originally going to be in the spring, but like ‘Blood for Honor,’ it will start in the fall. Not only does the weather affect how things go in war, but
I think it is poetic for both books to start at the same time of year.
If you didn’t know, the moon phases on the chapter pages of ‘Blood for Honor’ (paperback edition) change with the story. In my old drafts, the actual date is on there as well, but I ended up not liking the way it looked. I turned to the moon, as I usually do since I’ve always been fascinated by it.
I even took the time to search out the actual moon phases in 2140 and 2141…I’m a nerd.
Not only did ‘Blood for Honor’ start on September 26, 2140, but the book was released on September 26, 2022 (118 years, if you don’t want to do the math). I don’t know the exact day ‘The Wild Assault’ has started on yet, but maybe it will accidentally turn out to be the same day as the release day, like with ‘Blood for Honor.’
I love happy accidents.
I haven’t worked on my Familiars Anthology submission this past week, which still needs around 2,000 words before I feel it is done, but I have until the end of December to finish it. My mind has been on ‘The Wild Assault’ this week, and I didn’t want to disturb the flow of ideas rolling around in my head. I have started reading the paperback of ‘Blood for Honor’ to refresh my mind about the little nuances in the book, which I don’t think I have actually done. It is going to help me sprinkle in easter eggs and references to things in ‘The Wild Assault.’
Who enjoys easter eggs in stories?
Many blessings,
Emma Lee Joy
