Well, I’m still waiting for a response from KDP after uploading the tweaks I did to fix what I am hoping is the margin issue that they said I needed to fix on my 2024 planner.
Amid the anxiety-ridden mess called ‘this week,’ I had a dream concerning the book that I put on the back burner to start the prequel to ‘Blood for Honor,’ ‘The Wild Assault.’ I haven’t written anything this week for ‘The Wild Assault,’ but yesterday, I wrote over 2,000 words to try and get said dream out of my head that was clearly part of this halted project, and now I’m obsessed with the story again.
Can I write two books at a time? I don’t know, but at this point, it looks like that may be what is happening.
Said book is titled ‘The Fire That Dwells With Water’ in my computer files, and it is the first piece of fiction that I would consider to be entirely Science Fiction that I have ever written–or started writing.
I usually dub myself a dystopian author.
The manuscript is around 14,000 words and has an outline, which I don’t usually work with. And it all started with the most vivid dream I have ever had. I can still feel the mud between my fingers as I slid down the muddy hill over a year later. It is an entirely separate world from ‘Blood for Honor’ and ‘The Wild Assault,’ if you were wondering. I wrote the outline in its entirety within two hours after waking up from that dream, which is actually the climax of the story.
It’s intense.
I’m probably crazy for even thinking about writing two books at one time, but I’ve been called worse. I can’t stop the words when they come, so 2024 may be the year of truly ‘going with the flow.’ If a door of creativity opens, I’m not going to fight it, and I’m excited to see what happens. No matter what kind of chaos is going on in the story, I never fail to fall into a peaceful state when I let the story write itself. I don’t enjoy forcing things; I can tell when I force words rather than letting them flow.
Am I crazy? Or are you excited to see what happens next year?
Many blessings,
Emma Lee Joy
P.S. When I typed in ‘The Fire That Dwells With Water’ into Google for funsies, this is what I got:
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
-Isaiah 43:2 ESV
