Happy New Year, my peeps! For fans of ‘Blood for Honor,’ you will be pleased that I started writing a little on ‘The Wild Assault’ again this week. I did some editing, which cut back on word count by a few hundred words, and then I wrote some more, which put it back to nearly 37,000 words!
I have a feeling I will be going back and forth every week or two on projects, depending on the flow. Those projects are the prequel to ‘Blood for Honor’ and a project I picked back up last month after having put it down to start writing said prequel. If you haven’t been following me, they are ‘The Wild Assault’ and ‘The Fire That Dwells With Water,’ respectively.
I cannot write them at the same time.
I become immersed in the world as I write, and I can’t pull myself out on a whim to start writing on the other. I let myself softly come out of my head and then change, which can take a week or two (or longer). If you have ever been deep in a dream and woken up suddenly, that same disorientation is what I experience if I force myself to flip-flop.
I’m already unhinged enough as it is.
I did submit my short-story for the Familiars Anthology, so now we wait. I found where they are looking for stories with an average of 6,000 words, and mine was right over 2,000. But that doesn’t mean it won’t interest them and then maybe want more! This is one of those things that I’m not stressing over–whatever happens with it happens. I am really proud of how it turned out, and if I don’t get chosen, I will post it here. Some of my OG followers have already read a previous, shorter version, so let your minds run wild over what it could be.
You can get your hands on a 2024 Planner over on Amazon. I’m still waiting for my author copies. For the 2025 Planner, I will have it ready by Thanksgiving 2024 to avoid this mess.
I’ll be posting more updates on the Apothecary once there is something to update on. We are in the hurry-up-and-wait stage of making tinctures, and that is very anticlimactic.
Many blessings,
Emma Lee Joy
