Because I can’t help myself, I started working on the 2025 Planner this week even though I told myself I would begin next month. Close enough, yeah?
I stumbled across an image and knew it was part of the cover. I’m super excited about this 2nd Edition Red Hawk Ridge Planner, and it’s a much more enjoyable project this time around.
Last year, I was learning how to work with Canva, and since then, I have learned A LOT. Not to mention, I have a template with margins that should help me bypass the shenanigans I encountered last year. I also picked up a few tips and ways to do things that will save me many hours.
The 2024 Planner was cosmically inspired, with purple and black as the primary colors and moons, suns, and stars. The 2025 Planner has a gypsy cottagecore vibe that I did NOT plan but am absolutely in love with. The colors are earthy greens, oranges, yellows, and some blues. It’s not something most people would associate with me, but I will embrace it! I might even need a wardrobe change.
The weekly pages will have less background activity. The 2024 Planner had a little too much happening, so I am focusing more on simple, strategically placed images that won’t interfere with reading what you write, including mushrooms, birds, moths, and more.
Below is a working title page to give you an idea of what is in store for this planner. The theme, which comes from the hand image, is “What is in your hand?” This comes from Exodus 4:2:
Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?”
“A staff,” Moses replied.
Moses used a staff to part the sea and perform other miracles that led to the freeing of his people from Egypt. For us today, it doesn’t have to be a staff, but rather, what do we already have in our hands that can be used mightily? In my case, it’s a pen. I’m a writer, not a talker, but we all have more than one thing. If you ask me, there is the thing you enjoy and the thing that gives you life. I won’t go on a tangent. I’d rather you ponder this thought for yourself.

What is in your hand?
What do you already possess that will change the world?
That said, I have not written anything this week. It’s all been about design, but I’ll do better. I just get obsessed with things and work on them for days until I get sick of looking at them and have to take a break. Is that ADHD? Hyper-mania? I don’t know, but I’ll take what I can get regarding progress, and this is what works best for me at this point in my life.
Don’t forget to check out my Etsy shop if you want apothecary stuff. I’ll have tea available soon, but in the meantime, you can read about new products on my Apothecary page and see if they intrigue you. Apparently, Valerian Root is a go-to of mine, but don’t we all need a little more ‘chill’ in our lives?
Many blessings,
Emma Lee Joy
