Weekly Writing Update

Hey, my peeps!

I’m not here to update you on any writing progress, but I am here to update you on my writing projects.

I’m getting adjusted to my new job, which is one of the more stressful gigs I’ve had, but at the same time, one of the better ones. Adapting to my new routine, I have begun to get the itch to get back to writing, but this is where some people may be a little bummed.

I just don’t have the spark for it, and I really feel that I haven’t figured out what the story is meant to be. I’ve tried to force it, but it just isn’t working. ‘The Fire That Dwells With Water’ is my passion project at this point in my life, and I really want to focus on it with the little time I have to write these days.

To be transparent, it feels like all the time I spent writing ‘Blood for Honor’ was me learning about myself, growing up, and realizing that I love to write, not creating the thing that would get me noticed and push me toward writing becoming a real job for me. Don’t get me wrong–I am still in love with the story I created. ‘Blood for Honor’ is my firstborn and the light of my life, but I know there are other stories in me in a different world. I haven’t found the same love for the prequel I feel should be written eventually…along with a possible sequel. If you’ve read my debut novel, you know things can totally continue on. I want to create something I’m passionate about, with the possibility of a career. And I don’t have that gut feeling with ‘The Wild Assault’ as it is now. With all of that said,

I know my true followers will understand and be down for whatever comes next. I’m not bothered by people getting upset with me for not doing something that takes up a considerable amount of time. This is my life, my creativity, and my passion. And I won’t turn it into something stressful, which trying to figure out where ‘The Wild Assault’ is going has become.

If you need a reason to get on board with ‘The Fire That Dwells With Water,’ click here to read the first chapter (unofficial edition). It’s a military-style dystopian sci-fi world with enemies to lovers, redemption arcs, and many more popular tropes.

The latter half of the chapter is subscription-only, but it’s only $2.99 a month. You get full blog access and the complete herbal library, so you don’t have to go searching for things if you are here for plants and story writing. I plan to have more story content available soon for subscribers only, so tell your friends!

I still have my apothecary, with a few new products. If you want to check it out, click here and follow me on Facebook for any sales or promotions that may crop up while I’m not updating here.

Many blessings,
Emma Lee Joy
